The Royal Palace is the main seat of the Wroclaw City Museum. Here you can see a very interesting exhibition “1000 years of Wrocław”. Wrocław Royal Palace is sometimes called Spaetgen Palace, after one of its first owners. In 1717 Baron Heinrich G. Spaetgen bought the modest baroque residence near the Market Square. After his death in 1750 the Prussian ruler Frederick II bought the palace from the baron’s heirs. The palace gained the status of a royal residence and Breslau a residential city, next to Berlin and Königsberg.
